...CONE makes history...

Very soon after completing FRAM, CONE test fired the first ASROC off
Key West, Florida in February 1963. Here, the bird becomes airborne as
viewed from the fantail.

Note: The Decommissioning Program states that CONE fired the first ASROC
in the MED on 28 August 1963. It is uncertain if that date conflicts with the
February 1963 date or if the statement in the program was making a point that it
was the first ASROC fired in the MED and not anywhere else.
Clarification anyone?
