Haze Grey and Underway

For those of you who served before 1961 and have not stayed abreast of the
changes, Cone's entire superstructure was replaced. Most of the spaces on or
above the main deck are in a different location from where they were from 1945
to 1961. During the FRAM process, all secondary armament was removed as well
as Mount 52. A helicopter hanger and platform were added aft. An anti-submarine
rocket launcher was placed between the stacks. On the 01 level, six Mk 32 torpedo
tubes were placed where Mount 52 had been. The entire superstructure was removed
and replaced with one which was principally aluminum. The hull and machinery were
extensively rebuilt.
