The song, written in 1946 in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba,
is to be sung to the melody of
"It's Only a Shanty in Old Shanty Town"
(...which is the tune playing if you can hear the music...)

The choice of the melody has been attributed to Jim Shripka.

"The ditty, dormant for almost 55 years, was resurrected by Max and Jim at the last reunion, and sung at the banquet by all hands. Everyone enjoyed it. But, alas, the piece has no title. So, we're going to hold a "Name That Tune Contest." Honest! Send us the title you think best fits the lyrics, and then Max and Jim will crown the winner. Write today, and help choose the title.
